Synopsis: The Proud Family is a coming-of-age American animated series about a fourteen-year-old girl, Penny Proud, and her flavorful family.
The series was nominated for a NAACP Image Award and won the BET Comedy Award in a Children’s Program.
Doreen Spicer-Dannelly was instrumental in the creation and sale of the original series. It was a joy producing and reliving her life experiences as a "tween" through the main character, Penny Proud.
Currently, the series is being rebooted as “The Prouder: Louder & Prouder.” Doreen couldn’t be more grateful to the audience for wanting, demanding to see a continuance of the series. What a compliment!

Motown Magic Writers and Producers
This wildly imaginative series came to life through the collaboration of American and Australian writer/producers and the magic of Motown music. Creating while listening to nostalgic songs from Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, The Supremes, Marvin Gaye and other greats brought a sense of feel-good authenticity, which helped produce the Emmy Award-winning animated series.

Synopsis: A story about a teen boy and girl who find the jump rope past time, Double-Dutch to be the most fun and challenging sports to participate in and defend.
Spicer-Dannelly developed and wrote the musically driven Jump In! for Disney, starring Keke Palmer and Corbin Bleu, which broke records in television cable with 8.2 million viewers and Variety deemed the film “...the highest rated MOW ever.”
The National Double Dutch League claims the movie sparked an influx of organized teams, competitive and recreational jumpers across the globe. (Now that’s something to jump about!)

How many fantasy family animated series can you count?
Doreen was drawn to this Pocket.watch animated series for Amazon Kids+ and YouTube for the joy of the wild imaginative possibilities. And working with the impressive YouTube sensation, Onyx family and diverse animators was the icing. There’s a monster mystery, a musical montage and comedy all in 7 to 11 minutes! Scary fun!
Playground Politix

Synopsis: When a group of girls approaches a group of boys a dance battle ensues for space at the playground.
Spicer-Dannelly made her directorial debut with a musically driven short film, Playground Politix, featuring eight girls and eight boys battle-dancing for space at a playground.
The short is aimed at gender bullying and premiered at the esteemed LA Shorts Film Fest. Playground Politix also became the official selection at Dances with Films Kidz, Sunscreen, The Maryland Kids Film Fest and Reel Women UK.
The kid dancers were amazing! They rehearsed Thursday and Friday and I shot the short Saturday and Sunday. Today, educators use it as a teaching tool to foster discussion points regarding gender bullying, competition and inclusivity.
The Wannabes

Synopsis: Twenty-six episodes completed of a scripted comedy about six teens who want to be pop stars.
This series came out of 'opportunity meeting preparation' and passion. Doreen wanted to prove she could showrun a series without having to take years and years to climb the production ladder. So when she met the management team for Savvy, great plans just fell into place. Ultimately, the experience was one of the best risks Doreen feels she's ever taken and the rewards were an international hit and she's expanded her skills set, network, and new friends to boot.
Spicer-Dannelly independently produced the international tween hit sitcom, The Wannabes Starring Savvy, and served as Showrunner and Executive Producer. The series follows six teens who want to be pop-stars. Doreen was instrumental in licensing the twenty-six episode series around the world which debuted in Australia on ABC 1 & 3 and became their number one kid show as well as on HBO Latin America. The show aired in over 100 countries including Starz Kids & Family US.
Spicer-Dannelly found something special in the musical group Savvy, Houston, Texas natives at NATPE. The show was produced at a high school turned soundstage in Howell, Michigan. The series was privately funded by a group of generous investors during the height of the 2008 recession and employed over 100 local talent. The best outcome was not only producing a show that forged wonderful relationships and was well received around the world, but also benefited the economy in Howell and the city of Detroit.

The Proud Family has been reprised as "Louder and Prouder!" Doreen is completely humbled at the audiences' demand to have it back. This spoke volumes to the soul of the original Penny Proud. Both the original and rebooted series are available on Disney+.
